Everything you need to know
Villa Il Poggiolino is an eighteenth-century residence in seven hectares of private parkland in the Valdichiana, the wide valley of eastern Tuscany between Arezzo, Cortona and Montepulciano, and it takes one wedding at a time, for three nights. A cypress avenue leads in through a park planted over centuries: lawns, a pine grove, an olive grove, a garden beside the house, a pool set in its own stretch of grass, and a terrace that looks out over the hills and the villages on them. Twenty guests sleep in the villa itself, the couple in the bridal suite, and ten more at the family's sister house five minutes down the road. The grounds hold up to 80 for a wedding outdoors and 50 within the house, and the family's sample weekend shows how the three days run: pizza al fresco on the first evening, an afternoon ceremony and dinner in the olive grove on the second, yoga and a farewell brunch on the third. Fireworks are allowed. The family who own the villa run it, recommend a caterer or welcome the couple's own, and describe their corner of Tuscany as one that mass tourism has largely passed by.

Centuries-Old Park & Cypress Avenue
Seven hectares of park, planted over centuries, with a cypress avenue running through it. The venue takes up to 80 guests for anything held outdoors; the avenue has been dressed for a ceremony, chairs either side of the gravel, and the free hours of the second day are spent walking the rest of the grounds.
Villa Garden
The garden beside the house is where the family's sample weekend ends: the late-night party on the wedding evening, after dinner in the olive grove. It has hosted ceremonies too, under an arch of flowers against the old brick.
Olive Grove
Dinner among the olive trees is the venue's own suggestion for the second evening, with the Valdichiana beyond the edge of the park and up to 80 guests outdoors. Couples have married here as well, in an aisle cut through the grass.
Pine Grove
A stand of pines within the park where the family has set out both a ceremony and a dinner under festoon lights, with the tables among the trunks.
Pool Area & Lawns
The pool sits in its own stretch of lawn in the park. The family's sample weekend puts the free hours of the wedding day here and, after the ceremony, the appetisers and cocktails; a long table has been laid beside it for dinner too.
Panoramic Terrace
The villa's terrace looks over the rolling hills and the historic villages of the Valdichiana.
Villa Interiors
The rooms of the eighteenth-century house take a celebration of up to 50 guests, the venue's own figure for anything held indoors.

Villa Il Poggiolino — wedding venue in Lucignano, Tuscany
Villa Il Poggiolino was built in the eighteenth century as a country residence in the Valdichiana, the broad valley that runs south from Arezzo past Cortona towards Montepulciano, a few kilometres from the walled town of Lucignano. The park around the house has had centuries to grow, and the cypress avenue, the pines, the olive trees and the lawns between them are the result.
The villa is still owned and run by the family, and that shapes how a wedding here works. The people who answer the first email are the people who hand over the keys, recommend a caterer and the suppliers they trust, and have hosted couples from the UK already. The villa is let for three nights at a time, which the family calls a three-day wedding: a welcome evening, the wedding itself, a slow brunch on the third morning, with a private chef, cooking classes, yoga and guided tours on request for anyone who wants them.
