Small & Intimate Wedding Venues in Tuscany for 2026

Our editors' ten favourite small wedding venues in Tuscany — hilltop farmhouses, tiny hamlets, and villas built for guest lists of 14 to 60. Capacities, who sleeps on site, and who each venue suits best.

We list eighteen wedding venues in Tuscany that cap the guest list below 50 — and a much longer shelf of Tuscan venues for under 100 guests if your list has room to grow. Small weddings are not scaled-down big ones; they are a different art form, and Tuscany's farmhouses, hamlets, and hilltop villas practise it better than anywhere in Italy. These are the ten we'd send our own friends to, for a wedding where every guest is someone you'd cross a room for.

1. Lupaia — five farmhouses in the Val d'Orcia

In the heart of the Val d'Orcia near Montepulciano, Lupaia gathers five ancient farmhouse buildings around gardens and a pool, with the countryside falling away in every direction. It hosts up to 36 guests and sits within reach of Siena, Arezzo, Florence, and Perugia — but the point of Lupaia is that once you arrive, you stop going anywhere. For couples who want the romantic, rural Tuscany of the imagination at exactly the scale it was built for.

2. Podere San Giorgio — the Chianti hilltop with headroom

Podere San Giorgio is a medieval villa on a tranquil hilltop at Radda in Chianti, ringed by rolling vineyards, 45 minutes from Pisa airport. It hosts up to 60 guests — the roomiest venue on this page — and sleeps up to 40 of them on site, with exclusive use and in-house catering. For couples whose "intimate" keeps quietly gaining cousins: this is the small venue that won't punish you for a growing list.

3. Antico Convento I Cappuccini — vows in a convent cloister

A former religious house outside Montalcino, Antico Convento I Cappuccini keeps its magnificent cloister and charming chapel, adds a large outdoor pool, and hides its bridal suite in a converted barn. The house sleeps up to 26, and if the celebration outgrows the inner circle the estate can host up to 150 for the wedding itself. For couples who want the most atmospheric ceremony setting on this list — stone arches, candlelight, and centuries of quiet.

4. Borgo Argiano — a whole hamlet for twenty-four

Borgo Argiano at Montalcino is a medieval hamlet refurbished end to end — 12 suites for 24 guests, surrounded by 200 acres of olive groves and vineyards, with gardens and a large pool. It is the borgo experience at its most distilled: an entire village, and everyone in it came for you. For couples who love the whole-village idea but want it at dinner-party scale.

5. Villa Le Fontanelle — the tiniest venue we list

Just outside Florence at Impruneta, 20 minutes from the airport, Villa Le Fontanelle hosts up to 14 guests across seven suites — with panoramic views of both the city and the countryside, a pool, and a sun terrace wrapped in gardens. This is the venue for the wedding that is really a house party with vows: parents, siblings, best friends, and nobody you had to invite.

6. Villa La Selva — Chianti, exclusively yours

Villa La Selva stands in the Chianti hills at Radda, an hour from Florence airport, with panoramic countryside views and exclusive use for a party of up to 24 — all of whom can sleep in the villa. Elegant without being grand, private without being remote. For couples who want classic Chianti with the front door closed behind them.

7. Terre di Nano — where the whole wedding sleeps over

A 19th-century country estate in the Val d'Orcia near Pienza, Terre di Nano hosts 30 guests in 15 bedrooms — meaning the entire wedding sleeps on the estate, among vineyards, olive groves, and a beautiful pool, 90 minutes from Florence airport. No transfers, no goodbyes at midnight, breakfast together the morning after. For weddings that are really long weekends with a ceremony in the middle.

8. Agriturismo La Conca — four villas, four pools, 300 acres

Agriturismo La Conca is a working estate near Montepulciano: four Tuscan villas on 300 private acres, each with its own pool and long views over the countryside, 55 minutes from Perugia airport. The villas accommodate up to 30 guests and the estate hosts intimate weddings for up to 50. For couples who want their small wedding to feel like a scattered family compound rather than a single house.

9. Casa Farsetti — the anti-tourism wedding

In the countryside at San Casciano in Val di Pesa, 40 minutes from Florence airport, Casa Farsetti is a country house for weddings of up to 40 guests, with sleeping for around 11 — a place its own description sets deliberately apart from mass tourism. For couples allergic to anything that feels like a wedding factory: this is Tuscany at its most genuine and unhurried.

10. Querceto di Castellina — Chianti with a saltwater pool

Querceto di Castellina sits in the Chianti wine country at Castellina, 50 minutes from both Siena and Florence airports, and sleeps 40 guests across nine apartments and a double suite — with a saltwater pool, garden, and terrace commanding the views. For the wedding where everyone stays all week and the celebration is only the loudest of several very good dinners.

Three more we nearly listed

Il Cellese, a refurbished Chianti villa for up to 21 guests across 10 rooms; Castello di Galbino, a restored 16th-century castle near Anghiari sleeping 24 in 12 bedrooms; and Villa Moscatello, two villas for 32 guests inside a 1,200-acre protected nature reserve in the Maremma. For intimate venues beyond Tuscany, see our Italy-wide small-wedding guide.

How to choose between them

Count beds before banquet seats. At this scale the real question is who wakes up inside the wedding. Terre di Nano sleeps all 30 of its guests; Podere San Giorgio sleeps 40 of its 60; Casa Farsetti houses an inner circle of around 11 with the rest nearby. Decide which shape you want before you fall for a photograph.

Match the venue to the wedding's true size — including the size it might become. A fixed list of 20? Villa Le Fontanelle or Villa La Selva will feel warmly full rather than half-empty. A list that keeps growing? La Conca flexes to 50, Podere San Giorgio to 60, and I Cappuccini can host 150 for the day itself while sleeping only your closest 26.

Book on Tuscany's timeline, not yours. Small venues are whole-property hires, so a single wedding takes the entire calendar slot — and the best have far fewer peak dates than the big estates. Our planning timeline shows what to lock when, our Tuscany cost guide covers what it all costs, and a good local planner can sometimes reach dates that never hit the open market.
