Everything you need to know

Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte commands attention from its hilltop position in Impruneta, just seven kilometres from Florence's historic centre, where the Chianti hills begin their gentle roll southward. Originally a fortified medieval farmstead built around the year 1000 by the Buondelmonti family, the villa was purchased by Lorenzo the Magnificent in 1480 and later transformed into a spectacular country residence under Prince Giovan Carlo de' Medici in the 1630s. The prince commissioned the finest Florentine fresco painters of the era to decorate nine grand salons, creating interiors that rank among Tuscany's most impressive. The Corsini family acquired the property in 1644 and have maintained it ever since, making it one of the last Medici residences still in private hands. For weddings, the villa offers extraordinary versatility: the frescoed Gallery seats 220 for a formal banquet, the glass-fronted Limonaia accommodates 180, and the manicured gardens can host seated receptions for up to 300 guests beneath the stars. With no on-site accommodation but excellent partner hotels within eight kilometres, Villa Corsini functions as a pure event venue where every celebration benefits from undivided attention and the accumulated beauty of nearly a thousand years of history.

About this venue

Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte — wedding venue in Impruneta, Tuscany

The story of Villa Corsini a Mezzomonte begins around the year 1000, when the Buondelmonti family established a fortified farm on this commanding hilltop between Florence and the Chianti countryside. Over subsequent centuries, the property evolved from a defensive outpost into a country estate, gaining the attention of Lorenzo the Magnificent, who purchased it in 1480. The villa's defining transformation came in the 1630s under Prince Giovan Carlo de' Medici, who summoned an extraordinary roster of fresco painters including Baccio del Bianco, Angelo Michele Colonna, Pandolfo Sacchi, Domenico Cresti (known as Il Passignano), and Giovanni da San Giovanni to create the nine elaborately decorated salons that survive today.

In 1644, the villa passed to the Corsini family, one of Florence's most prominent noble dynasties, who have owned and cared for it ever since. Through nearly four centuries of continuous stewardship, the Corsini have preserved the original frescoes, maintained the formal Italian gardens, and adapted the property to serve as one of Tuscany's premier event venues. The historic Limonaia was restored to host elegant banquets, and the grounds were thoughtfully landscaped to accommodate celebrations of every scale.
