Everything you need to know

Villa Muggia is a stunning 19th-century lakefront residence in Stresa, perched on the shores of Lake Maggiore with commanding views of the Borromean Islands and surrounding Alpine peaks. Built in the second half of the 1800s by the Isler family on the site of an older 18th-century farmhouse, the villa gained its present splendour when German entrepreneur George Von Siemens, of the famous electrical dynasty, acquired the property and enriched the park with luxuriant floral species among the centuries-old trees. In 1931, the Muggia family of Milanese industrialists purchased the villa and gave it the name it still carries today. The historic villa houses the magnificent bridal suite and six additional bedrooms, each with private bathrooms, on the upper floors, while the four ground-floor reception rooms accommodate up to 80 guests for intimate celebrations. For larger events, the Gran Gala marquee, immersed in the secular park, seats up to 180 guests in elegant comfort. The park itself, with its ancient trees and manicured gardens, accommodates up to 150 guests for outdoor ceremonies and cocktail receptions. With the Borromean Islands just five minutes away by boat and Milan Malpensa Airport only forty-five minutes distant, Villa Muggia provides an intimate yet accessible Lake Maggiore wedding setting of genuine distinction.

About this venue

Villa Muggia — wedding venue in Stresa, Lake Maggiore

Villa Muggia was built in the second half of the 19th century by the Isler family, on the site of an 18th-century construction that had belonged to a family of farmers. The Islers recognised the exceptional beauty of the lakefront position and created a residence that would take full advantage of the views across Lake Maggiore to the Borromean Islands.

Towards the end of the 19th century, the property was acquired by George Von Siemens, owner of the famous German electrical components company. Von Siemens enriched the park significantly, introducing luxuriant floral species among the centuries-old plants to create the botanical richness that characterises the gardens today. In 1931, the villa was purchased by the Muggia family of Milanese industrialists, from whom it took its current name.
