Villa Geno occupies one of the most romantic positions on Lake Como, set directly on the waterfront along the famous Passeggiata di Villa Geno promenade in the heart of Como town. Originally built in 1790 for Marquise Cristina Menafoglio Ghilini, the villa was entirely rebuilt in 1850 by the Cornaggia family, who commissioned architect Giacomo Tazzini to create the elegant neoclassical residence that stands today. Every room is decorated with frescoes, and the interiors exude formal elegance with unique period design throughout. The ground floor offers two generous living rooms totalling 160 square metres, perfect for intimate dinners of around fifty guests or atmospheric cocktail receptions. Upstairs, a grand salon of 108 square metres with two adjacent communicating rooms provides an impressive reception space. The gardens, overlooking Lake Como's celebrated fountain with its thirty-metre water jet, serve as a breathtaking outdoor ceremony and reception setting. A permanent glasshouse with a retractable roof has been added, allowing guests to dine under the stars on pleasant evenings while remaining protected from the elements. The villa accommodates celebrations for up to 200 guests and is accessible by both road and boat, making it an ideal choice for couples who want a Lake Como wedding with the convenience of being right in Como town.

Common questions
Answers to the questions most couples ask before enquiring.
Villa Geno — wedding venue in Como, Lake Como
The site of Villa Geno has been significant since the late 18th century, when Marquise Cristina Menafoglio Ghilini acquired the land and had the ancient chapel of San Clemente demolished to build a suburban residence in 1790. For sixty years this original building served as a fashionable retreat on the shores of Lake Como, enjoying the same waterfront promenade that draws visitors today.
In 1850, the Cornaggia family, who had acquired the property, decided to completely reimagine the estate. They demolished the original building and commissioned architect Giacomo Tazzini, a distinguished student of Luigi Canonica, to design a new villa in the courtly neoclassical style. Tazzini created a residence of considerable elegance, with frescoed ceilings, refined proportions, and an intimate relationship with the lake that has defined the villa's character ever since.
